What happens now?
  1. Upon meeting the entry requirements, the student (or agent) will receive a Letter of Offer for the selected course(s). Fees must be paid as per the Letter of Offer to confirm a place at the school including Carer/Guardianship fees (if applicable). Countries that require pre-visa assessment will not need to forward fees until the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs (DIMA) has granted a Pre-Visa Approval (PVA).

  2. When full payment of fees is received, a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) for each course is sent to the student (or agent) and DIMA. A Homestay Booking Form is also sent to the student (or agent) to consider accommodation.

  3. The CoE documents are necessary for visa issue.

  4. Make sure that enough time is allowed for the visa application to be processed.

  5. If the student requires homestay or an airport transfer, the Homestay Booking Form must be returned to the school with the student's flight details at least 4 weeks prior to arrival in Australia. A short profile of the homestay family and instructions for airport pick up will be sent to the student (or agent).

Do you have school aged dependants?

A student bringing a spouse and/or children to Australia will need to have enough money to support them before the Australian Government will issue a visa. For more information, contact the Commonwealth Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs (DIMA) or Consulate in your country. [ more info ]

Students under 18 years of age

Students under 18 years of age, who are not living with a parent or approved relative (see below) during the period of their study, will be required to provide evidence to The Meridian International School that suitable arrangements have been made for their care. The school must be satisfied that parents have made appropriate accommodation and welfare arrangements before the required Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation and Welfare (CAAW) letter can be issued.

The only person who can be nominated as a carer by the parent or person that has custody of the student is a relative of the student who is at least 21 years of age and of good character. A relative is a brother, sister, grandparent, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew or
step-parent/brother/sister/grandparent/aunt/uncle/niece/nephew.

Alternatively the school can provide the applicant with options approved under the Public Interest Criterion 4012A and Visa Condition 8532. The Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act permits The Meridian International School to approve care givers for its students who are under the age of 18.

Students who will be accompanied in Australia by their school age dependents must make schooling arrangements for those dependents.
